School Subjects
♦ Mandatory Subjects ♦
Mandatory subjects are the school subjects each and every student body are required to take. Tsunami Gakuen enforces all these basic fields into the students' education for higher academic achievements that compliments the school's prestigious status.
Note that you are not required to choose from these subjects as they are automatically included in your OC's curriculum.
- Japanese / 国語
Main Coordinator: Tokozumi, Enju
Acknowledging that while the school accepts students internationally and English being a universal language of necessity in foreign communication, we are still a school of Japan. Learning the traditional language of the country is enforced for all students. The curriculum contains the study of Japanese language and linguistics as well as its evolution throughout our long history and vocabularies without loan-words.

Main Coordinator: Hanazono, Arisa
Students will learn English as a second language that includes grammar, literature, culture and other areas of study. The department will help students develop a sense of analyzing, formulating, and understanding speech and literature written by the English language, as well as develop their own ability to communicate using the language.
- Maths / 数学
Main Coordinator: Ryokuro, Wakaba
Maths are one of the most important subjects in standard educations and gaining knowledge and strength in the subject widely supports the students' future in many area of their future aspirations. They exist side by side with the works of many highly regarded professions of today. This subject encourages students to develop and obtain perfect understanding of applied mathematics and their formulae through major assesment tasks.
- Science / 科学
Main Coordinator: Senri, Mio
Students will learn to broaden their understanding of the natural world through physical science, where the focus is greatly on the environmental and physical aspects of Earth. Students may be asked to collect data through experiments performed through lab work.
- Health & Physical Education / 保健体育
Main Coordinator: Terada, Tarou
This curriculum educates students in physical health provided in both theory and athletic practical sessions. Typically theory sessions will be held a few times a week and practical sessions are usually once a week but within a double class period. Students are expected to gain knowledge in basic kinesiology and social health, as well as developing their physical capabilities in practice.
- History / 歴史学
Main Coordinator: Inou, Junko
In Tsunami Gakuen, History is one of the strongest core subjects required for the student body to absorb into their knowledge. From first year until third final year, students will be taught classic and contemporary Japanese history in stages. They will also be educated in numerous popular world history such as ancient Greek, Egypt, China, and the world wars corresponding to evolution in civilization.
♦ Elective Subjects ♦
All students are required to take up one elective class out of the following subjects. These subjects provides further education for students who have interest in study fields not included in the mandatory subjects, which the school encourages for any of the students' hidden passion and abilities.
Please choose one subject the ones listed below. Beware that each subjects have limited slots and students who came in late to sign up for a slot will have to sign up for another subject that still has vacancy. Students should take strong consideration when deciding a class if their choice as they cannot turn back after being granted a slot in a class.
- Cooking / 家庭科
Main Coordinator: Terada, Natsuki
Achieving numerous honors of producing a handful of the most successful chefs, patissiers, and even chocolatiers, Tsunami Gakuen continues to offer the Cooking Class curriculum towards students who had interest to pursue the subject for their possible future career, ot for mere hobby. Ranging from fine dining to your favorite sweet bakeries, the class offers the best education of culinary arts. Students are required to give the best presentation and masterpieces for the majority of their assignments, which would test each individual's comprehension and creativity served on the dishes.
- Classic Literature / 古典文学
Main Coordinator: Fumiura, Keishi
Exploring the classical literary arts of Japan, our school encourages those who appreciates a connection with the ancient world in the form of dissecting the language of the past and dive into the imagination and beauty of well revered poets and writers. Students will cover popular ancient texts such as the hyakunin isshu, the Genji and Heike wars, three kingdoms and many more in their studies of classic literature.
- Geography / 地理学
Main Coordinator: Matsuda, Shou
The globe is larger than anyone thinks. Numerous lands and countries spread across our earth and we would never learn enough about the world. Geography introduces different lands across different countries in its curriculum, educating students about the differences of nature from place to place. This includes knowledge in the differing earth's surface, climates, elevation, soil and vegetation, as well as the form of civilization and how they use their natural resources.
- Foreign Languages / 外国語
Main Coordinator: Gonzalo, Ruy
Tsunami Gakuen is widely international and we understand perfectly that our students may have a lot of interest in various spoken languages in the world. Therefore the school is more than happy to offer the studies of foreign languages of each student's choice. This curriculum is mostly offered in distant-education; there are no formal classrooms. Students will receive study materials of their chosen language course by batches at the start of school terms and will communicate with their respective supervisors via phone and online for oral and audio sessions. Students may also seek our main coordinator for study enrollments and general assistance.
- Ball Dancing / 舞踏
Main Coordinator: Hanabusa, Ryo
One of the most eccentric education proudly offered by our school, this curriculum introduces the art of dancing from the Western cultures. Dance genres varies from waltz to latin, tango, modern ballet, and many others influential dance genres in the continental areas. Tsunami Gakuen have notable world-wide recognized dancers as alumni. Students with interest of pursuing dancing whether as future career or hobbies are encouraged to take this class.
- Electronics / 電子工学
Main Coordinator: Yaguchi, Hakuto
Many of our electronics students were known to gain high achievements in their future with different fields of engineering such as robotics and computers and many other power-automated technologies. In this class, students will be educated from the very basic of comprehension in electronics and ground up progressively as they advance in year levels. Students frequently participate in national and international competitions for recognition upon proudly completing masterpieces.

School Culture Festival
Summer has ended, school has started, and it is now midterm. Students have just finished their exams, and are now itching to have some fun. What better way to blow off some steam than the school’s annual Bunkasai? Students will be progressively busy in the next few weeks to prepare for their class and club’s two day event.
What Exactly is a Bunkasai?

It’s that time of year again! The sophomores have left for their school excursion leaving the first and third years free to roam in utter second-year-less glory!
During this time, seniors are encouraged to bond with their fellow freshmen, passing down their guidance and knowledge they had learned throughout the years. SOPHOMORES SCHOOL EXCURSION
It’s that time of the year again! Yes, it’s finally the season where sophomores will be departing for their field trip! This year, the sophomores will be heading towards Yokohama.
As usual, students will be spending a lot of time in the bus traveling to numerous destinations. Yokohama is a well-known port city, and the capital city of Kanagawa Prefecture, south Kanto. It is also the second largest city in Japan, abundant of history--especially the contemporary.
Students are prohibited to wander away alone, and are advised to stay in a group of 3-4 people with a supervisor.
